Ode to Pollock II C.T. Rasmuss; Acrylic/Latex/Enamel, 92cm x 92cm (June 2013).
Above, is a tribute by me in honor of "The Greatest American Artist" of the 20th Century...
Jackson Pollock was a great American artist who greatly fueled the Abstract Expressionist Movement, he died at the early age of 44 in a tragic alcohol related, 1 car accident as the driver. For both these reasons and the pure legacy of all his work including his early, less familiar styles...I admire, mourn and relish in his monumental achievements.
As an artist & human being, he faced immense struggles and dealt constantly with his haunting disabilities, including severe alcoholism; through it all he thankfully was able to leave much influence on me as well as entire generations of other artists in the discipline.
Thanks to his art & his legacy, in which he was able to accomplish despite all the obstacles; I as a human being & artist am able to flourish, artistically and emotionally in a new era - the 21st century..

Astrology/Astronomy...A Universe according to C.T. Rasmuss.
I am only a novice in the fields of Astrology and Astronomy, but they are still interests of mine, and no matter how little I am aware of their truths/facts and myths, I can best express what I know in my own way; therefore this is my understanding of the basic composition of a universe.

Art Deco?
Fill in the Blank C.T. Rasmuss, acrylic (2011). |
Would you classify this artwork of mine as Art Deco, based on the many definitions of Art Deco?
I'm asking you, the viewer to help me decide this matter...it's an example for when art is at its most subjective, vulnerability - Classification.
After all, it's just a harmless little word, and no where near as important as the essence of what it truly is (which I personally feel is utterly indescribable beyond any written word-as is human emotion and logic itself).
Here's a Wiki definition of Art Deco if you'd like a quick refresher on this classification:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Deco
none the less, I've now given it a proper title after going back through and editing this blog...Thank you for assisting me in 'thinking' aloud!!!

Joan Miro inspired Ceramic Piece; by C.T. Rasmuss
Like many great artists Miro invented his own language, but individually he created a new species characterized by their many geometric forms, through his style of automatic drawing; My piece: Basic Survival, pays tribute to this by means of automatic sculpting with clay, into similar geometric shapes of my own creative style.
A link to a good Joan Miro site, enjoy!: http://joanmiro.com/style-of-joan-miro/
