Seurat and the Gang; How it all Inspired a Mosaic.

Most importantly to a man that spent a very short life, creating but a few masterpieces of this magnitude, an artist who has more unfinished works than finished ones(for very good reasons); I ask:
 "how is this piece significant to you?"

For me the answer is: "it's the perfect intersection between perspective and composition, perfection of light and color theory the Impressionists were collectively working towards."  Seurat was is widely known for inventing divisionism & popular technique called, Pointillism; he may have contributed some of the fewest pieces out of this famous group of French artists, but they hold their equal weight in my book.

His painting featured here being his biggest achievements, in size and stature, I as well as the the majority of the art world seem to believe this to be true.  Much like Seurat, I believe that I have found my 1st 'Bathers', I title it 'Blue Vase' (synthetic mosaic seen below); a style greatly influenced by Vincent Van Gogh's impasto style, Pollock's pouring methods and largely Seurat's color theory, and later Kandinsky's theory on color composition. 

The former 3 living short lives and the later Kandinsky starting very late in life, contributed a great amount to the art world in such short amount of time.  It only makes me wonder how much I can with the possibility of even more time...if given the fortune to live a longer life like Monet, Picasso, or O'Keeffe, who all lived to be almost 100 years old

Live Action Painting at Creativa, Cincinnati w/C.T. Rasmuss 'Cradle to the Grave, Universal Thinker'

I will periodically blog details about the presentation/performance I will give for the artist of the month-August at Creativa, Cincinnati; (every 2nd Saturday, next being held Aug. 11th, 2012).  The results of the live action painting held at this event will be included straightforward into my solo exhibition on Aug. the 17th friday 6-8p. held at Fairfield Community Arts Center, also a really fine space. This will provide a unique chance for me as an artist to share with anyone who wants to see a fairly large and important piece of the show shift from it's orgination into its overall grand scheme of a gallery; it will be a sort of analogy in which I perceive us someways and many ways.  I encourage and greatly appreciate anyone and everyone to see for themselves, by attending both events for the full and absoluste experience:)!

A good way to handle desert photographs, is perhaps to start in black and white, void of any color, then start by rendering it through a drawing, then paint via gray scale.  I find this sort of effort, a great way to be able to understand the composition in horizon; a meeting between earth and sky...

Classes in Applied Painting by C.T.Rasmuss

I am teaching the first class on my newest techinque of applied painting, this is one of many examples so far; the cost is $25 per 2 hr session(all supplies will be furnished); 1st class being the 30th of June a Saturday from 2-4pm. A Time and Place for Everything; New Modern Times.

I see it turning around for us starving artists, sooner than later; as the great Modernist movement was built in & out of the turmoil throughout the 1st half of the 20th century(particularly WWI and II), it is now our time in the beginning of the 21st century.

There always seems to come a time, throughout all eras of history, when we(as a whole) must finally wake up!   Today it happens to be the hyper reality we've built around us, and it's harmful by-products (ie: Industrial revolution greatly led up to problems in early 20th century).

Art can help reveal to the public, both the good and the bad; allowing its viewers and artists alike to discern between the opposing forces, forged outta the newer, overlooked present & also the past.  Visual art is the simple truth in which I believe must reveal itself evident and pure; it's time for us to take a leap of faith together with our best collective foot forward, as well as keeping our individual cadences..
